Guidelines

Parking - Please use extreme caution in our parking lot. Follow the speed limit (5 miles per hour) as well as observe the ENTER and EXIT signs. It is imperative to hold your child by the hand while walking through the parking lot. Also, please take extreme caution while backing out of your parking space.

Tardiness -We prefer that children arrive by 9:00 a.m.  We do not want the children to miss any instruction. If the children all arrive ready to begin their program at 9:00, the transition is much easier for the children and the teachers. If your child will arrive late for any reason, please contact the school office before 9:00 a.m.

Late Pick Up - Half-day children must be picked up before 12:15 p.m. and full-day students no later than 6:30 p.m. In the event that you are late, please contact our office. Late pick up will result in additional charges as follows: Parents arriving any time after 12:30 p.m. will automatically be charged $32.00 for an Extended Day until 6:30 p.m. If your child is left past 6:30 p.m. we will charge $1.00 per minute.

Dress Code - Please, NO COWBOY BOOTS or THONGS. SANDALS MUST BE WORN WITH SOCKS.

Sign In/Out - California State Law requires that you sign your child in and out daily, indicating time. A full name and legible signature by an adult is required. The children may not play on the playground after they have been signed out.

Program Days - If your child attends school on a three-day or two-day program you may not switch days for personal reasons. If, however, there is a school activity scheduled on a day that your child does not regularly attend (i.e. - field trips, parties) you may switch for that day without charge. Your child would then attend the day of the activity and not attend on a regularly scheduled program day. If you bring your child on his/her scheduled day, as well as an additional day, including party or field trip days, you will be charged an extra day fee.

Absenteeism - Please contact our preschool office if your child is out for more than THREE DAYS due to illness or for other reasons. Also, please inform us if your child has contracted a communicable disease.

Illnesses - We would like to maintain a healthy environment for your child and, therefore, must insist on certain precautions. Any child with a persistent or severe cough, cold (runny nose) or vomiting should not attend school. To prevent infections from spreading it is imperative that your child is FEVER FREE FOR 24 HOURS before returning to school.

Prohibited Items - For the safety of your child we do not permit children to bring certain items to school. The items listed below will be brought to the office and await parental pick up: GUM, CANDY, BALLOONS, WAR TOYS, OVERSIZED SLEEP TOYS, ROPES, CHAINS, SWORDS, SNAKE-LIKE OR WHIP-LIKE TOYS, ACTION FIGURES, and COINS.

Extra Clothing - Please be sure your child has an extra set of weather appropriate clothing at school including underwear and socks, labeled with his/her name.

Toys From Home - Please, NO TOYS from home unless it is your child's specified sharing day.

Dismissal Authorization - It is imperative to notify the office with a written consent if someone other than yourself is going to pick-up your child.

Medication - For your convenience we have a FIRST AID person on campus who will administer medication. If your child is on a day at a time, or continuous course of medication, California State Law requires that a parent or legal guardian notifies the school in writing. A permission slip, available in the nurse's office, must be filled out daily if the child is to take medicine.

All prescriptions must be in a pharmaceutical container, properly labeled with the child's name, doctor's name, name of pharmacy, name of medication, dosage, and time medication is to be given.

All nonprescription medications must also be in the original container and labeled with the child's name and can only be administered when accompanied with a note or a fax (Pinecrest Preschool Fax #: (805) 610-3978) from the child's physician, indicating date, child's name, name of medication, dosage, times, and duration to be given.

We hope you and your child will have an enjoyable and memorable experience at Pinecrest Preschool.
