Will Cut Flowers Last Longer
if Stems are Cut Regularly?
by Ramy B.
7th Grade - 1st Place

Purpose: To find out if flower stems will live longer if their stems are cut regularly.

Hypothesis: If flower stems are cut regularly, then the xylem and phloem of the flower will open allowing nutrients and water to easily enter the flower, therefore the flower will live longer.

Conclusion: The difference in health from flowers with cut stems and flowers with uncut stems is very small. Overall, the change in flower health depends on the type of flower.
