Mia was born on March 17, 1992 in Selma, Alabama. She is one of 4 girls and 2 adopted brothers.
Mia grew up in California, Texas, Virginia and Italy. On March 6,1999 Mia broke the all time goal record with 108 goals. She won a gold medal for the U.S.A. in the 1996 Summer Olympics. Mia Hamm joined the National Team at the age of 15, becoming its youngest member ever.
She was elected as the soccer U.S.A. female athlete of the year, 5 years in a row, 1994-1998.
