Allosaurus
(meaning 'different lizard' because its vertebrae was different from other dinosaurs)
by Sachin S.

I chose this dinosaur because it was the biggest terror of the Jurassic.
Time when this dinosaur lived on Earth: Was in the late Jurassic period, 155-142 million years ago. It lived by the forest edges and fern prairies.
Size of dinosaur: Length: 39 feet, height: 15 feet, weight: 3 tons
How it looks: It had a three foot long wide mouth with teeth as long as steak knives. Its 3-clawed hands were curved like meat hooks. Its S-shaped neck was thick and strong. Its hollow bones made it lighter.
What dinosaur eats: Meat. Allosaurus was the top predator on land and often killed dinosaurs much larger than itself.
How dinosaur moves and speed: It hunted by ambush, camouflaging so it could get close to its prey. Approaching from behind rocks and trees, it would burst out to catch them by surprise,
Other interesting facts about my dinosaur: Allosaurus may have brought down large plant eaters by biting huge chunks out of its victims until they bled to death. The force of the Allosaurus bite was like being squashed by two elephants. It was the biggest land living meat eater the world had ever seen.
