Pinecrest Schools Van Nuys students and staff gathered to honor the birthday of Mrs. Edna Mae Dye, who founded Pinecrest Schools 56 years ago. Her grandson, Sean Dye, spoke to the students about the legacy of Mrs. Dye, and recited an essay about the absurdities of the spelling of many words in the English language, an essay that would sure to be appreciated by Mrs. Dye, who had a great love of children and teaching.

The student body sang 'Happy Birthday' to Mrs. Dye and shared a birthday cake at lunch in remembrance of our founder.
