Middle School Dissection Lab

Pinecrest 6th and 7th graders took part in two fascinating science labs. Our 7th graders had the opportunity to dissect a frog. One of the things that made this such an excellent learning experience was that the organs of the frogs were dyed different colors, enabling the students to easily identify the organs.

Sixth graders took part in different kind of dissection. Working in pairs, they dissected a preserved sheep's heart. The objective was to identify the parts of the heart, so as to understand the process of oxygenating blood.

Students used a scalpel to cut the heart, so they could view the cross sections. They had a diagram of the heart that was labeled to help them identify the different parts.

Pinecrest's Science Lab has been a wonderful addition to our school, giving students the proper facilities to conduct these kinds of science exploration.
