The following list of policies and procedures will make the transition smoother for you and your child. Policies and Procedures

It will not be necessary for you to sign your child in or out. This is not a state requirement for kindergarten children.

For all children being dropped off before 7:00 a.m. it is suggested you take your child to the before/after schoolroom yourself, as there is no one on circle drive until 7:00 a.m.

About 8:00 a.m. all children go outside to play, weather permitting, and are supervised by teachers until the whistle blows at 8:30 a.m.

Classes begin at 8:30 a.m. Please make a concerted effort to have your child at school on time. If you bring your child to school after classes have begun you must sign in your shild in the main office.

Rest time is one hour for kindergartners. We suggest you send a small sleep sheet with the child's name on it. A familiar item is comforting to a small child.  Please do not send stuffed animals, as they can be a potential health problem.

Homework is assigned every night except Fridays. It is important that the homework be returned the next day.

Please check your child's folder nightly, as it contains important information regarding homework, field trips and general school information from his/her teacher.

After 3:00 p.m. all children are to be picked up at Circle Drive.

Children are supervised after school by staff personnel from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

If you pick up your child before 3:00 p.m. we request you come to the office and sign your child out.

Always keep your pick up list up-to-date by notifying the office of any changes you may have made.

Field trip slips are sent home with the children prior to all trips. It is important that you read the trip slip carefully and return it signed with a phone number and the appropriate fee. It must be returned by the date and time indicated on the slip. We cannot accept a handwritten note in lieu of a field trip slip.

All prescription medication must be in the original labeled prescription bottle and hand carried by a parent to the nurse's station. This includes cough drops and lotions as well.  The nurse's station is located in the preschool office.

We have a student store located near the Cafeteria. The store hours are 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. (breakfast); 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. (nutrition); and 3:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. (snack). Various snacks are sold daily.

Please do not be offended when you are requested to present ID at Circle Drive. This procedure is for your child's safety and protection.

In the event that someone other than yourself will be picking up your child, please advise the office at (818) 988-5554.

All kindergarten children will have computer class, music class, Spanish and library once a week and P.E. daily.

Most disciplinary measures are handled in the classroom by the teacher. However, if a problem reoccurs the child will be sent to the office and the principal will telephone you to ask you for your help in handling the problem.

Please be sure that ALL your child's personal belongings are marked with his/her name and room number. It is a good idea to check your child's belongings before you leave the campus. In case they are missing something, Lost and Found bins are located outside the Music Room.

An extra set of clothing is helpful in case of accidents.

Lunches may be purchased on a monthly basis for $80.00 (grades K-3) and $85.00 (grades 4-6). Children who are not regular "hot lunchers" may purchase lunch for $4.00 daily. Lunches and field trips may not be charged to your account.

Conferences with teachers may be scheduled by calling the office.

Please check the lost and found baskets (located in front of the music room and library) on a regular basis. Some lost and found items may also be located on garment racks in the Cafeteria.

Kindergarten has approximately five field trips per year.

The children are not allowed to wear open toed shoes or jelly shoes.

Report cards are sent home on a quarterly basis. There are approximately 49 teaching days in each quarter.

Study hall is conducted in the classroom on a daily basis from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.  This allows the children to begin their home lessons. Please review your child's homework each night which will be placed in his/her folder.

Please call the office if your child is sick or will be absent for the day.

If your child is absent, and you would like to have the homework for that day, please call the office by 10:00 a.m.  The homework will be brought to the main office by 3:30 p.m. for you to pick up.

Please be advised that your child will be tested during the first week of school. Should the teachers find that your child will benefit from being placed in another class, your child may be transferred to another room. We would appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter.  We all want what is best for your child.

We are all here to serve you, so please do not hesitate to call should a problem arise.

We look forward to meeting you personally.

Very Truly Yours,

Jeri Dye Lynch
