From the Nurse’s Desk:
I would like this year to start off as a good and healthy one for all students. The health of our children is very important to their success. I will do my best to ensure their health and safety, treating each child as if they were my own. I will give a courtesy call to parents depending upon the nature of injury or illness.
ILLNESS: Colds, flu and other contagious diseases seem to occur frequently and spread easily among children. To help protect your own child’s health and to minimize the possibility of contagion at school, please keep your child at home if you observe any of the following symptoms.
- Nasal discharge that is green or yellow
- Complaints of ear pain
- Productive cough
- Severe sore throat
- Eyes that are pink, burning or itching or producing discharge.
- Diarrhea or vomiting
- Fever
If these symptoms of possibly contagious conditions or other conditions deemed contagious are observed in your child during the day, you will be called to come pick up your child immediately.
When your child has a fever, please keep him/her at home 24 hours temperature free or normal. If there are any lingering signs of illness, i.e. glassy/watery eyes, listlessness and or drowsiness, etc. please keep your child at home an additional day. This will help to ensure that the illness has actually passed and that your child will be well enough to resume school activities.
MEDICATON: As a service to our parents, the nurse’s office will administer medication prescribed by your physician. All medications (prescriptive and over-the-counter) including topical are given as a courtesy at 12:00 and/or 3:00. Medication must be in the original container with the child’s name on the label, as well as the prescription number, name of the medication, dosage, expiration dates and possible side effects of the medication. Please add the child’s room number. A permission to administer medication form can be found in the nurse’s office and it must accompany the medication The form will be applicable for no more than 10 days.
Here’s to a healthy school year!
Very Truly Yours,
Nurse Jody Tran
