Tradition
Pinecrest students are justifiably proud of their school and are well known for their good sportsmanship, friendliness and manners. All students will learn the “Pinecrest Song”, whichis sung at assemblies and other special events:
Pinecrest is the school for us,
We will be victorious!
Everyone will do their share,
Playing fair and square.
For no matter what we do,
We will always see it through,
As we learn the golden rule,
At Pinecrest School! |

Welcome to
Pinecrest Van Nuys!
You have selected a private school for your child -- an institution that has the
freedom to determine its own direction under the State of California guidelines for
the Department of Education. Your family is now part of Pinecrest Schools’
tradition of passing on these high standards.
THE TEACHERSnot only work with the children in the classroom, they serve the
best interest for children throughout the school. The teachers serve as your
contact with the school -- they are in the best position to help. Their ideal is to
work with you as partners. In a private school, taking a concern to what parents
may see as “the top” -- the administration-- actually slows down the response time:
the matter is usually referred back to the teachers. Teachers want you to keep in
touch; just phone in advance to set a convenient time for a conference.
THE PRINCIPAL serves the needs of children in the elementary and middle grades.
He or she takes responsibility for daily operations and makes grade-level and
classroom placements. Through their presence, knowledge and example, they
bring the school’s mission to life and focus it upon the special needs of the
students they serve. The principal verifies that the students who are admitted fit
into the curriculum and the overall program.
THE CAMPUS DIRECTOR is the individual responsible for the school’s overall
welfare and the education of your child; for delivering a curriculum that carries out
the school’s founding vision; for seeing that the plant and facilities support the
program; for overseeing the school’s fund-raising activities; for working with the
Board of Directors to plan for the future; and for serving as the school’s formal
ambassador to the outside world.
Because you have selected a private school to meet the unique needs of your
child, the final responsibility for seeing that your school stays on course, furthering
the direction and mission originally set by the school’s founder rests with the Board
of Directors. In private schools, educational principles, not popular opinion, dictate
this direction. The Board members are responsible for keeping their eyes on the“big picture.”
Our school community also includes many Support Staff members in the areas of
Student Registration, Attendance and Accounting; Administrative Assistance;
Health Care Services; Extended-care Programs; and other areas. |
