Notes & Reminders:

Assignments:

There is an Art homework assignment given once every week.  Since class is only once a week, you have a whole week to complete the assignment and turn it in on time.  Failure to do so will result in a note home and detention.  Failure to complete homework assignments will lower your art grade and work habits grade.  Extra Credit can be done at any time to help your grade (see below).

I am available before, during, and after school to help you at any time, if there is not a class going on at the time.  I am happy to assist you in your work any time that I can, please don't hesitate to ask.

6th Grade  "A"

Your homework assignment this week is to find an art article (a story on an artist, a gallery, a new exhibit at the museum...) in the newspaper (probably the calendar section) or on an internet news page.  Read the article, cut it out (or print it out) and write me a few sentences on your opinion of it.  Do you find this artist interesting?  Why or why not?  Would you go see this exhibit, why or why not?  Etc.  The article and the written part (about 5 sentences) are both due for a complete homework assignment.

                        Due :  Tuesday, May 20th

Last week's assignment (Due 5/6):  Your assignment this week is to look up the artist Vincent van Gogh and print out a picture of one of his works.  Please write me a few sentences on whether you like his work or not and why.  The picture and the written part are both due for a complete assignment.  Failure to turn in this assignment will result in a detention.

Long Term Assignments:

Extra Credit can be completed at any time to help you with your classroom points or your homework points.  Some ideas for extra credit are:

-   Visit an Art museum.  Bring back a brochure to prove you were there.  You will also need to turn in with it,  2 written paragraphs on your opinion of the museum, with details about the artwork and facility.  I want to know, did you like it or not?  Why or why not?  Would you go back or not?  I do not want facts about the museum, I want your opinion of  their collection and why you feel the way you do.

-  Visit an Art gallery.  Look around and bring back a brochure or business card to prove you were there.  You will also need to turn in with it,  2 written paragraphs on your opinion of the gallery, with details about the artwork and facility.  I want to know, did you like it or not?  Why or why not?  Would you go back or not?  I do not want facts about the gallery, I want your opinion of  their collection and why you feel the way you do.

-  Find an Art related article in a magazine or newspaper.  Read the article and turn it in with 2 written paragraphs on your opinion of the article.  I do not want the facts of the article, I want your opinion of what it is discussing and why you feel the way you do.

-  Find a comic strip that refers to art.  In a paragraph or two, tell me if you enjoyed the strip, what art piece it is referring to, and how you knew it was an art joke.  The strip, your opinion, and a picture of the real original piece that it is making fun of should all be turned in together.

-  If you have another idea, just ask me if it's okay before you do it.  I'm sure it will be fine.
