Projects include coordinating with classroom teachers on core curriculum in Social Studies, Language Arts and Science. Only half of a class attends at one time, allowing more individual attention to students by Ms. James.
Music
Small class instruction is also available in both guitar and keyboard. These progressive after school classes provide more one-on-one instruction for those interested in playing these instruments. Keyboard is currently offered on Mondays from 3:00-3:30 p.m. and guitar is offered on Wednesdays from 3:00-3:30 p.m. The cost to students is $75 per six week session. Lessons are taught by Mr. "S", who graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a B.A. is Music Education. Mr. "S" is thrilled to be able to office these exciting classes to his Pinecrest students.
Spanish
Pinecrest recognizes that learning a foreign language is a fundamental cornerstone to a well rounded education. To that end, Pinecrest students begin Spanish classes in pre-school and continue language courses with Señor Peattie at our Valencia campus through the fifth grade. The Santillana Bravo curriculum is utilized in our elementary grades. For all students, Spanish language acquisition is promoted through student centered, age appropriate lessons that facilitate vocabulary building, and the development of communication through writing and speaking skills in addition to reading comprehension.
At Pinecrest, we believe the quality and productivity of each individual's life is enhanced through participation in a comprehensive physical education program that promotes the optimal growth and development in their physical, mental, emotional and social well being. Head PE Coach and Athletic Director, Dustin Cleaver, has created a developmentally appropriate physical education program that empowers students to make wise choices, meet challenges, and exhibits positive behaviors in lifelong fitness and movement activity. Our PE program consists of team building activities to locomotor skills (balance, skipping, hooping, etc.) to introductory of team sports such as Badminton, Hockey, Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, etc.
Travel and Pee Wee Sports play an integral part in our program. Students will have the opportunity to experience team sports such as Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Soccer, and Track and Field. We play local private schools in the Santa Clarita Valley Private School League.
