PARENT/STUDENT HANDBOOK
PARKING LOT: Parking is very limited in our small lot. Even though our supervision and maintenance staff are asked to park on the street, we are still unable to provide parking for 450 parents immediately adjacent to the stairs!
Following the parking lot TRAFFIC PATTERN:
Wilbur Road Entrance - Right lane must turn right and park in designated stalls. Left lane must turn left and park in designated stalls. Do NOT cross center line to park. DO NOT MAKE U-TURN TO PULL UP IN FRONT OF SCHOOL!
Hodencamp Road Entrance – is the only access to drop off/pick up lane at bottom of stairs, otherwise known as the “Kiss and Go Lane”. YOU MUST REMAIN IN YOUR CAR and keep traffic moving. This lane tends to be very congested between 8:30-9:00 a.m. and 3:30-4:00 p.m. If you are in a hurry, we suggest you park on Wilbur or in our lot and walk up the stairs. DO NOT block the intersection while waiting to enter our parking lot. This is ILLEGAL and you may be ticketed.
Additional parking is available on Wilbur Road. On assembly days, the north end of the playground will be open for parent parking at 8:30 a.m. The entrance is on Hodencamp Street. Thank you for your courtesy and help.
CLOSED CAMPUS: Remember, Pinecrest is a closed campus. This means that when students arrive at school, they must stay on campus at all times, including lunchtime, unless they are released to their parents or other permissible adult. Parents MUST check-in to the Main Office during academic hours for a Visitor’s Pass. For safety reasons, we require that ALL visitors report to the office before going on campus. A “Visitor’s Pass” or “Bus ID” is required of all guests at school.
For safety reasons, NO pets are allowed on campus due to student allergies. We ask that you please leave pets at home or in your vehicle when dropping off or picking up students from school.
PARENT INVOLVEMENT: Success in school is proven to be the result of positive teamwork between parent and teacher. Parents can help their child by asking to see the student planner each night, providing a quiet time and place to complete homework, reading with or to their child, and letting their child know that doing his or her best in school is very important to them.
We welcome our Pinecrest parents to become involved with their child’s learning experience. Teachers need parents who can help plan and carry out class parties chaperone field trips, make costumes and props for class plays, or act as guest speakers or resource persons on topics of their special interests and expertise. Most teachers appreciate having a “Room Parent”. Please let your child’s teacher know how you can help.
PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
On behalf of all of us at our Blue Ribbon School, welcome. We are very proud of everything we do here at Pinecrest! Let’s work hard together to make this a wonderful year of growing and learning. Please remember to always be your best and try your hardest. We are all here to help you have the best year ever!
This will be a year where you’re going to be accepted and able to make friends; where you will be challenged to reach as far as you can; where you can have fun while learning; and where you find it’s O.K. to make mistakes because you’ll learn from them. In order for this to happen, you have to agree to only three things-they’re easy to learn and easy to do. They are:
ATTENDANCE! ATTITUDE! EFFORT!
Follow the guidelines below for these key words, and we guarantee this will be your best year ever!
