PRESCHOOL GUIDELINES

Our campus is open from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. daily. The structured school day is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for full day students; 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for half day students. The campus does close at 6:00 p.m. sharp, and parents are respectfully urged not to abuse the privilege of late care for their child. If your child is picked up after 12:00 p.m. on the half day program or after 6:00 p.m. on the full day program, a penalty of $1.00 per minute ($2.00 per minute after 6:30 p.m.) will be applied to your account.

HOLIDAYS AND SPECIAL EVENTS

Our calendar for the school year shows the opening, winter and spring breaks, holidays and closing dates for our academic year. Please note that on those holidays indicated child care is available for preschool children. The preschool does remain open during winter and spring breaks with the exception of those marked holidays.

ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES FROM SCHOOL

Your preschool child must be brought into the school and signed in upon arrival by the parent or adult bringing him/her to school. Your child must also be signed out by the adult picking him/her up at the end of the day.

DISMISSAL AUTHORIZATION

Please inform us with a note or a phone call if someone other than yourself is going to pick up your child. The designated person must stop in the office to get a release. Picture identification will be required.

TARDINESS

We prefer that children arrive by 9:00 a.m.  We do not want the children to miss any instruction. If the children all arrive ready to begin their program at 9:00, the transition is much easier for the children and the teachers. If your child will arrive late for any reason, please contact the school office before 9:00 a.m.

NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL

A written notice of withdrawal from the parent must be received by Pinecrest Schools no less than 14 calendar days prior to the end of the month.

TUITION

Checks shall be made payable to Pinecrest School. Tuition is due by the 1st of the month and is to reach school no later than the 10th. A $40.00 service charge will be incurred on all past due accounts. Your cooperation is appreciated.

MEDICATION

Medication must be brought to the Nurse's office in its original container. The dosage needed must be specified on the container. Any over the counter medication that does not give a specific dosage on the bottle by age must be accompanied by a doctor's prescription. A Medical Consent form must be filled out indicating the dosage needed, the reason for administering (cough, wheezing) and the time to be administered.

SNACKS AND LUNCH

A nutritious snack is served at 9:00 a.m. Please do not send your child to school with breakfast. A very light snack (granola bar, fruit roll, etc.) is permissible on a very limited basis for early arrivals. All snacks must be brought into the classroom before 8:15 a.m. At 8:30 a.m. all foods brought into the room will be disposed of.

EXTRA CLOTHING AND BLANKET

Please bring a small blanket for nap time and a pillowcase to store it in. An extra change of clothes stored in a small plastic shoe box should remain in the cubby at all times.

SHARE DAY

Your child may bring a toy to school on Monday only (share day). Toys may not be taken out to the yard. Books or tapes may be brought any day of the week. We discourage you from sending videos to school as our schedule does not really allow time for viewing. A soft toy is permissible everyday at nap time.

BIRTHDAY

If your child has a birthday during the school year, perhaps you would like to share this special day with the class. You may want to send cookies or cupcakes and all the trimmings. The teachers will be happy to help. Please notify them in advance.

HEALTH CARE

Ill children will not be accepted for care. In order to have your child at school, he/she must be able to participate in all activities of the preschool program including indoor and outdoor activities. If a child becomes ill at school, the parent will be called immediately and the child will be sent home. If a child has a fever or flu symptoms, keeping him/her home for at least 24 hours helps prevent the spread of many illnesses.

EXTRA EXTENDED DAYS

If you have need of an extra day or an extended day, the rate is $7.00 per hour.

FIELD TRIPS

Field trips are taken throughout the year. Children are transported by a certified school bus under teacher's supervision. Field trips are optional. Permission slips will be furnished and must be signed and turned in prior to the trip. Children are required to wear a Pinecrest Shirt on all field trips.

OPTIONAL SERVICES

Dance lessons and gymnastics are offered to preschool children for an additional fee. Applications will be available in your child's room the first month of school.
