Simi Valley Pinecrest Middle
School
Pinecrest
Middle Schools offer a co-educational, rigorous
academic curriculum with an emphasis
on personal responsibility, character development,
and community service. In addition to preparing students
for success in high school and beyond, it is our mission
to create lifelong learners by providing a strong
academic framework as well as opportunities to pursue
individual interests.
The
Schools - Pinecrest Schools were founded in
1951 - one of the oldest and largest non-sectarian,
co-educational private schools in California. With
the addition of the newest campus in Moorpark, Pinecrest
now offers eleven safe, secure locations throughout
San Fernando, Santa Clarita, Simi, and Conejo Valleys.
Pinecrest Schools are members of the National Independent
Private School Association (NIPSA).
The
Simi Valley Campus - Pinecrest Simi Valley
is located on 5 beautiful acres in the heart of Simi
Valley - named one of the safest cities in the entire
country. Facilities include Preschool and Elementary
buildings, as well as a separate "school-within-a-school"
for Simi Middle School. There is a football/soccer/softball
field, an Olympic size swimming pool, up-to-date Computer
Lab, a Library/Media Center and a new sport court.
Hot lunches are prepared daily in our kitchen.
The
Curriculum - Pinecrest's academic program includes
a prescribed set of courses in English, Spanish, Science,
Mathematics, Social Studies, The Arts, Technology,
Physical Education and Health. Social/Community Service
and Character Development are also required of all
students.
Sports
and Activities - Pinecrest belongs to the San
Fernando Valley Private School League and participates
in three seasons of interscholastic sports each year,
including flag football, soccer, softball, basketball,
volleyball, and other sports as determined by the
League. Sports Awards programs at the end of each
season recognize the accomplishments of each team
and spotlight outstanding athletes.
The middle school years
are full of discovery and intellectual transformation
and our students may take advantage of Exploratory
Classes offered each year, such as Choral groups,
Band, Chess, Computer Technology, Dance, Drama and
Play Production, Journalism, Math Olympiad, Video
Production and Yearbook Staff.
Middle School class officers
participate in the Student Council and play an important
role in planning various campus activities such as
field trips, parties, theme days and intrascholastic
competitions.
Students and Faculty - Current enrollment (all grades) is 400 students. Projected Middle School enrollment is two classes per grade level in the 6th and 7th grades. Most students are residents of Simi Valley and represent a well-balanced mix of social, economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Our teachers are selected not only for their educational and classroom background, but also for their energy, enthusiasm, and ability to encourage a love of learning.
Admissions
Criteria - Simi Middle School seeks responsible
students with a sincere desire to work both within
the classroom and the school, as well as good citizenship
and a respect for others. Admission is dependent on
whether the student appears able to benefit from a
Pinecrest education and the parent's support of the
aims and goals of Pinecrest Schools. Pinecrest does
not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, ethnic
background or national origin.
