Pinecrest Preschool
It is the mission of the Pinecrest Schools to
provide a fully integrated preschool program designed to foster
the child's social and emotional growth, as well as their physical
and
mental development. In addition, a sequential learning curriculum
will be developed to prepare the child for academics in kindergarten
and elementary school. The preschool will provide superior before
and after school care as an aid to working parents.
Year
round programs - available for children as young as two years (all
students must be potty trained as determined by state
licensing)
Full or half-day sessions
Creative activities that foster emotional, social and academic growth
Kindergarten readiness
Qualified teachers in a nurturing environment
The beginning of formal academic skills starts
here. Along with this the children are taught socialization skills
with peers
as well as fundamental problem solving.
Our Pre-Kindergarten
classrooms are designed to prepare the children for the Pinecrest
Elementary School curriculum.
To enroll a student in a Pinecrest Preschool a personal interview
with a preschool administrator is required prior to admission.
The interview with the child and the child's parent will determine
if the school is able to meet the needs of the individual child.
Each child will be admitted on his or her individual merits regardless
of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry. All children
must be at least two and a half years of age, toilet trained and
ambulatory. Ambulatory is defined as being physically capable of
leaving a building unassisted.
Children entering into a Pinecrest Preschool program will be placed
according to their emotional maturity and chronological age and
will be moved to subsequent groups on the same basis.
Each day is planned to give your child experiences in both group
and individual activities. A full-day program is provided from
9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. daily. A half-day program lasts until
noon, with children being picked up after lunch and between 12:00
noon and 12:30 p.m. State law requires all children to be signed
in and out of the campus. The signing in of a child effectively
transfers control of that child to the preschool and retracts the
control of the child when the child is picked up ONLY by a pre-approved
parent or adult. Proof of identification will be required.
The school is open and child care provided from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30
p.m. daily. In order to meet the needs of the parents, some campuses
may extend or shorten these hours and some campuses may charge
an additional fee for longer hours.
Parents will be requested to provide the following items: one
change of clothing, including underwear, pants and a shirt or dress,
to be kept in the child's personal cubby.
If your child attends full day he or she will need a small blanket
for rest time. These items will be sent home for laundering as
needed.
Optional services available at some campuses include dance lessons,
transportation to and from school, and some extended hours before
6:30 a.m. and after 6:30 p.m. All of these options and other services
should be discussed with the director.
Close personal communication is encouraged among the parents,
Director, and teacher. Parents may, for purpose of inspection,
enter at any time without prior permission, but must announce their
presence on campus to the office. All campuses are essentially
closed campuses. We ask that special care be taken during nap time.
Grandparents, and prospective parents, teacher's family, older
children, and any other visitor may be declined permission to enter
the campus without an appointment.
Parents are reminded that the Department of Social Services has
the right to visit the campus to inspect the children's records,
to interview the children, and to interview the staff and Director.
