Northridge, California - October 2, 2007 Secretary Spellings announced the 2007 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon Schools today with Pinecrest Schools, Northridge chosen as one of twenty seven schools selected from the State of California. The NCLB Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gain in student achievement. The Pinecrest Schools, Northridge campus demonstrated that their students were academically superior by scoring in the top 10% or higher in the nation on nationally normed tests.
Principal, Janice Rudd stated, "Our teachers have raised the potential in our students, challenged mediocrity, and insisted on a successful outcome. It is a great achievement for our students, our faculty, and I am very proud of our parents for their part in our success."
Pinecrest Schools, Northridge is part of the Pinecrest private school system which began in 1951, dedicated to a mission of providing a challenging education. The Northridge campus opened in the early 50's and serves children 18 months through middle school. The Pinecrest Schools, in Thousand Oaks also received the NCLB Blue Ribbon School award in 2003.
