PRESCHOOL
POLICIES & PROCEDURES
Enrollment: To enroll a student in a Pinecrest Preschool a personal interview with a preschool administrator is required prior to admission. The interview with the child and the child's parent will determine if the school is able to meet the needs of the individual child.
Each child will be admitted on his or her individual merits regardless of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry. All children must be at least two and a half years of age, toilet trained and ambulatory. Ambulatory is defined as being physically capable of leaving a building unassisted.
Client Medical Assessments: Prior to, or within 30 days of enrollment, the state requires a Physician's Report (#701) including proof of up to date immunizations. Failure to comply will result in disenrollment until the form has been turned in.
Placement: Children entering into a Pinecrest Preschool program will be placed according to their emotional maturity and chronological age and will be moved to subsequent groups on the same basis.
School Hours: A full day is planned from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Half day ends at 12:00 p.m. with pick up no later than 12:15 p.m. The school is open and supervision is provided from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. with no extra fee. If your child attends half day you always have the option of extending their day until 6:30 p.m. for a fee of $7.00 per hour.
Signing in and out: State law requires all children to be signed in and out of the campus. The signing in of a child effectively transfers control of that child to the preschool and retracts the control of the child when the child is picked up ONLY by a pre-approved parent or adult. Please use complete signature. Proof of identification will be required.
Absenteeism: We would appreciate a phone call when your child is absent due to illness. Children need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school from an illness. Also, please let us know if your child has a communicable disease.
Tardiness: We prefer that children arrive by 9:00 a.m. We do not want the children to miss any instruction. If the children all arrive ready to begin their program at 9:00, the transition is much easier for the children and the teachers. If your child will arrive late for any reason, please contact the school office before 9:00 a.m.
Make Up Days: We are unable to offer any make up days for children who are ill and can't attend school.
Tuition: Tuition is due by the 1st of the month, and is to reach the office no later than the 10th. A $40.00 late fee will be assessed to past due accounts. We would regret to discontinue the enrollment of your child if payment is not made by the 15th. Returned checks are $35.00
Late Pick-Up Policy: Children who attend half day must be picked up by 12:30 p.m. Full day students must be picked up by 6:30 p.m. The late fee is $1.00 per minute after the scheduled pick up times. In the evening the children are escorted to the elementary school at 6:25 p.m. to await any late arriving parents.
Withdrawal Procedure: We require a two week written notification upon withdrawal of your child from school.
Snacks / Lunches: Lunch and snacks are provided by the school. A menu will be provided to every family at the beginning of each month in our newsletter and on this web site.
Naptime: Naptime is required for all children from 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. each day. Please bring a small blanket for your child to use at this time.
Extra Clothes: Parents will be requested to provide the following items: one change of clothing, including underwear, pants and a shirt or dress, to be kept in the child's personal cubby. If your child attends full day he or she will need a small blanket for rest time. These items will be sent home for laundering as needed.
Optional Services: Dance lessons are offered to Pre-kindergarten children for an additional fee monthly. Tap shoes as well as ballet slippers are required. Application letters will be available in your classroom in October.
Visiting: Close personal communication is encouraged among the parents, Director, and teacher. Parents may, for purpose of inspection, enter at any time without prior permission, but must announce their presence on campus to the office. All campuses are essentially closed campuses. We ask that special care be taken during nap time. Grandparents, and prospective parents, teacher's family, older children, and any other visitor may be declined permission to enter the campus without an appointment.
Department of Social Services: Parents are reminded that the Department of Social Services has the right to visit the campus to inspect the children's records, to interview the children, and to interview the staff and Director.
Field Trips: Occasionally field trips are planned for the Pre-kindergarten students. We provide transportation on a Pinecrest bus and require written permission for your child to participate.
