Sign of the Seahorse
by Graeme Base
Report by Madison W.

This is a story
about a Seahorse Cafe and how a bad group of fish got what they deserved. The Seahorse Cafe was a nice place for good fish to gather and eat, dance, listen to music and be happy. Then one day the bad fish came and made the owner leave. The coral reef where all the fish lived also had a poison, killing all the coral reef, so all the fish had to leave and find somewhere else to live. The catfish found out that the bad fish had helped poison the land and made everyone leave so they could take over the coral reef and make money when they returned one day. The good fish went a long way west and found a new reef and lots of seahorses. The same owners of the old Seahorse Cafe opened a new Seahorse Cafe and made the bad fish work and clean because they had been greedy and mean before.

Amazing Snakes
by Dorling Kindersley
Report by Tyler J.

Baby snakes hatch out of their eggs. Sometimes they come out alive. Snakes hibernate in the winter. You can find snakes in the jungle, or deserts, or your own backyard. Snakes can live in trees, or in oceans, or underground. Some snakes, like vipers and cobras kill with venom. Some snakes can climb trees or swim in water. Some snakes can even jump off branches. They flatten their bodies so they fall slowly and land softly. Snakes can dig underground. There are more than 2,000 different kinds of snakes. Some are shorter than a pencil. Some are almost as long as a school bus. All snakes hunt prey to eat. Some hunt rats or mice or fish. Many eat other snakes. A few even hunt crocodiles or bats or birds in the air.
