Fees:
Tuition is based on an academic school year as defined by our school calendar. The total amount of the year's tuition fees are due and payable prior to September 1, 2003; however, for your convenience, Pinecrest Schools will accept ten equal installments, interest free, on the first day of each month beginning September 1 and concluding June 1, 2004. Installment payments made after the tenth of each month are subject to a $25.00 service fee. There will be a $35.00 service charge for any check dishonored by your bank.
Absences:
When your child is absent from school, a written explanation is requested
for readmittance to class.
Medication(s):
In the event your child must take medication during school hours, we must have a signed and dated parental instruction form in order for our office staff to accept and administer each medication to your child. Prescription medication(s) must be in the original container.
Report Cards:
Detailed reports of your child's academic progress are issued four times a year (approximately ten weeks apart). Notice of failure to complete homework and/or unsatisfactory progress reports will be sent when and if necessary. Should you want a conference with your child's teacher or the administrator, please call the office and a conference will gladly be arranged.
Holidays and Special Events:
Please see our 2008-2009 school calendar.
This calendar reflects opening, vacation, holiday and closing dates for this
academic year. Also shown are those days
when academic classes are not held and when the campus is available for childcare.
Please refer to the calendar as needed throughout the year. Additional copies
of the calendar are available in the office. If there are changes to the
calendar, you will be notified well in advance.
The school will send notices regarding special events, such as open house,
dramatic presentations, festivals, award ceremonies, etc. These and other
items of information will be mailed/announced in our school newspaper or
posted on our web site.
Lunches:
Hot lunches are optional for children in elementary grades and may be ordered
and charged to your account on a monthly or yearly basis. Students not on
the regular or hot lunch schedule may purchase their lunch from the cafeteria
on any given day. Daily lunches must be paid for on the same day. The cost
is $3.25 / day. Fresh milk is available for all students free of charge.
Discipline:
Pinecrest is a structured school and as such expects proper behavior from
all students. Any serious infraction of the basic rules may result in suspension
or expulsion, for cause. A discipline policy is in effect for students in
grades One through Eight. This policy explains campus rules. A copy will be
sent home with your child after the first week of school, or may be found on the Discipline Policy page.
Homework:
Homework is considered an important part of your child's study curriculum
and he/she is expected to complete the assignments as an extension of classroom
instruction. Regular homework assignments are given to all students from
Kindergarten through Seventh grade. As a rule, homework is not assigned on
Fridays. Make-up homework will not be provided for a child who misses only
one day of school. It may be requested after the second day of absence or
for a planned extended absence.
Lost and Found:
A receptacle labeled Lost and Found is used to receive all items left on
the playground each evening. We will try to find and return any lost item,
but
the school cannot be held responsible for any personal item that your child
brings to class. Personal property brought to school by your child should
be clearly marked with your child's name. The school will make every effort
to ensure that each child's personal belongings are secure, but does not
assume liability for those items.
Dress Code:
The school has an established school uniform. We believe that
our dress code is quite liberal and it will be strictly enforced. Boys'
hair will not be allowed to extend over the shirt collar. For safety reasons,
open-toe shoes and sandals are NOT permitted. Please mark your child's
name
in all sweaters, jackets and outer garments.
Drama and Dancing: Lessons:
Lessons are available at some campuses for an additional cost to parents
whose children want to take advantage of these activities. Classes are held
approximately once a week and will be arranged the first week of school.
Please contact the office for further information.
Field Trips & Off Campus Activities:
Frequently during the year, class field trips to points of interest (museums,
libraries, etc.) are conducted. Also, members of our sports teams travel
to other schools to compete in afternoon athletics. In either case, and in
all instances where students leave campus under the supervision of Pinecrest
Schools, a signed Parent's Consent Form (Trip
Slip) is required for each
child in order to release them from school. Trip Slips are distributed
a few days prior to the activity, and must be returned to school before the
child may leave the campus. Details of each
trip are given on the Trip Slip. If there are any additional questions, simply
phone the office.
Blank Consent Forms are also available on this web site.
See the Frequently Used Forms for details.
Special Notes:
The Pinecrest campus follows the normal public school calendar with regard
to Winter and Spring breaks.
