How Well Do Disinfectants Work?
by Marissa B.
7th Grade - 1st Place

Hypothesis: I think that disinfectants will have very different effects on the bacteria.

Conclusion: The graph shows very clearly that Lysol performed best and Pine-sol performed worst. I do not however know what kind of microbes were grown. Not all bacteria are harmful. It's surprising to see that sterile cool water worked so well in comparison to Pine-sol and Antibacterial hand soap until hours had past. It is important to note that pure bleach is used by people who work with hazardous and infectious materials to clean themselves and their equipment. It is also the recommended
method which I used to destroy the samples in the experiment.
