Where Are you, Flat Stanley?
1st Grade Social Studies

It all began with the reading of one of the series of Flat Stanley books, which are about a boy who accidentally gets flattened when a bulletin board falls on him. The adventure begins there for Stanley to the delight of all children who read these books. Our first graders made their own Flat Stanley's out of paper, and sent them out, along with a journal, to friends and family all over the country and the world, including England, Singapore, the Phillipines and Australia. Our students couldn't wait to hear about Stanley's adventures, as they began to read the journals that were returned to them. The classes have been tracking Stanley's whereabouts on a map, and have found out that Stanley watched the Super Bowl in Pennsylvania, went on a boat in Oceanside, CA., went to the football Hall of Fame in Ohio, and the Hoover Dam in Nevada. We can't wait to find out what's next for Stanley!
