My name is Julie Wilson, and I am the 1st grade teacher here at Pinecrest Canyon Country.  I have been teaching for Pinecrest for five years, but this is my first year at the Canyon Country Campus.  I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Diego State University.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy sailing, Swedish weaving, traveling, and spending time with family.

A school is a building. Education is wherever you are.  I want to teach to enable children to think outside the “box,” and not be afraid to try, even if that means adapting to every child’s learning capabilities.

I really enjoy the ability to take the curriculum and put my own “spin” on it, teaching with creativity.

One of my most memorable moments as an educator was connecting with a little boy who had severe socialization problems, seeing his smile when I wasn’t afraid to modify my teaching style to connect.  I learned a tremendous amount from him, about my- self, my teaching style, and philosophy to teaching.
