Grade or Class: Art
Years at Pinecrest: 7
Educational Background: Graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree from FIDM for Marketing and Design
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy being with my family, watching my daughter play soccer, reading, and spending time with friends.
My educational philosophy is to encourage and surround the students with a book-rich environment. Where students feel free to express themselves, and help them develop a deep love and respect for the Arts, themselves, and others. Where the voice of each student is heard and there are fair and consistent rules. Where students can be themselves and have fun while learning.
What I enjoy most about my role at Pinecrest is my involvement with the students. I not only teach Art class, but the students visit the library to check out books, and are able to enjoy the many library clubs I offer, like Scrabble and Chess Club, Library Club and Culture Club. We read stories and poetry, play games and create crafts they can take home and cherish for years to come. I run the Book Fair and the Holiday shop, and I am also the editor of the school yearbook. I am involved in almost every activity the students are involved in because I take all the pictures for the yearbook.
My most profound moment as an educator is the smile that appears on a child’s face when they have created their greatest masterpiece!
