Technology Classes

Elementary students have classes in the computer lab two times a week for 30 minutes. We use Microsoft Office, KidPix the Internet as well as education games to learn about the computer.

We start typing in 2nd grade. By 4th grade, typing practice at home is required. 10 minutes 3 times a week is all it takes to keep up the skills. The signed typing log is due the first class of each month.

Typing programs include:

Tying Quick& Easy

BBC Dance Mat Typing (an Internet based learning program)

The Type to Learn series (Type to Learn, Type Thru Time, Type for Fun, Type to Learn Jr.)

Video Production

In Fifth Grade, we learn the ins and outs of movie making. We learn to brainstorm, storyboard and write scripts. We create music videos and film school events. Our most recent project was to create the opening video for the Pinecrest  Annual Haunted House.

The students are currently working on pre-production of their music videos.

2011-2012 Yearbook

The theme for this year’s book is In This Moment in Time.

In order to capture each precious moment of your child’s life here at school, we will fill our beautiful 80 page, all-color, hard-cover book with photos and stories of our events throughout the year.

We are offering Love Lines in our book this year. Deadline for the Love Lines is December 16, 2011. Love Lines may not exceed 30 words.

We are always looking for photos for events and field trips! Please send in your photos on a disk for consideration for this year’s yearbook.

Recycling

Our Next Recycling date is January 7, 2012 from 9 am – 2 pm.

Recycling Electronic Waste is extremely important to our planet. We collect TVs, computers, printers and print cartridges, cell phones among other electronic items for recycling. If you don’t want to wait until our recycling date, you may drop off your E-Waste in the computer lab during the week.
