A Magnetic Field
by Grant A.
5th Grade - 1st Place

Purpose: The purpose of this project is to find out what a magnetic field is, and what it looks like.

Hypothesis: I can demonstrate what a magnetic field looks like in 3-D.

Results: The iron filings formed a magnetic field using the 16 oz. glass jar and the 2 super strength magnets.

Conclusion: At first the experiment failed. I could not demonstrate what a magnetic field looks like in 3-D. I think the magnets that I used were too small and did not have a strong enough magnetic force to pull the iron filings to the side of both kinds of jars. Once I tried the smaller jar and the super strength magnets the experiment worked. A magnetic field was formed inside the jar.
