
Middle School Electives
Students will have the opportunity to choose
their electives. We know that they'll have a great time this
year exploring these
electlves as well as others.
Cooking - Students
will be Introduced to the basics of cooking, including nutrition, measurement,
following a recipe, presentation and etiquette
as they prepare
a treat each week in our own Pinecrest Kitchen with Chef Holtz and a special
visit from Chef Justin of The Odyssey Restaurant.
Kitchen Chemistry -
Students will have a blast in this super science class where we will experiment
with
a variety of household materials and everyday
Items. We will find out how much we know about chemicals and will become "super
scientists" as we discover how things work using ordinary supplies
we'd find In our own houses.
The Bulldog's Growl -
Students will work on creative writing, Interviews,
news articles and special Interest stories to be published In our own
Middle School
newspaper entitled "The Bulldog's Growl." Students will plan,
write, organize, do the photography, edit this newspaper, and become
experts at using
Microsoft Publisher.
Sign Language - Miss
Fannon teaches students basic signs using American Sign Language, including
the alphabet, simple
vocabulary, greetings and
even songs!
Our students will work toward carrying on basic conversations all in
American Sign Language]
Child Development — Miss
Angie, our Preschool Director, will teach our students fun and creative (and
sometimes messy!)
ways to interact with our
preschool aged children. Students will learn about encouraging the
children to use their physical, emotional, cognitive and social skills
with hands-on
activities.
